It is not only about one woman's loss and her brief attempts to find meaning; it is a heartbreaking story about the United States and our ongoing failure as a nation to come to terms with the Vietnam War. Held in the Light gives us hope, however, because it is about individuals who have struggled to face the truth, and to help us all, as an Welsh's daughter put it, to "carry the weight" of the past.
