One of those children books that appeal to adults' taste, while young children give mixed reviews. Some toddlers loved to look at the book and hear my interpretation of the various adjectives, most of them did not get the illustrations (and tried to eat the pages, of course). Older children who were able to understand the drawings found the text too simple. Not my favourite, but a pleasant book to read together during circle time with preschoolers, using it as a provocation for collective reflections on the meaning of the various adjectives. There was a lot of fun, there, but I had to do most of the hard work catching their attention and stimulating their curiosity, where other books hook the children instantly, as if they had a life on their own.… (mais)

A dog (Bone) and a cat (Bell) journey homeward together before setting out on their next adventure. Rhyming text and a loose, eclectic art style.

Art note: "This book was created with almost everything under the sun, but mostly acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, and a computer."

Wenzel again explores animals' perspectives in this dreamy bedtime book. Within a dream, "there I was" - a salamander, an octopus, an elephant, every kind of creature. In the last few pages, the first person narrator is revealed to be a little kid, getting ready for bed.

Caldecott contender?

Read this at Pajama Storytime. Not sure the kids were super engaged but the adults loved it.

I love Brendan Wenzel but I was not feeling this book. I wish I knew why.

There is excellent repetition for doing with kiddos. And I like that the cat was more of a big city cat......
