From what I have read, there are very few Sci-Fi elements in the book, so I am unsure if it will reach the semifinals of the indie Sci-Fi book contest. We mostly get a fantasy story starring a quasi-immortal god that adopts the appearance of different human bodies to serve as a benevolent guide named Ay-Tal. The story revolves around the endless mishaps Ay-Tal and her/his/errr... their bodyguard named Jon get into when an overzealous train conductor shoots Ay-Tal in the chest due to a misunderstanding and Jon is forced to jump off the train while carrying his charge in his arms.
As expected, the cops will place all the blame on Jon for Ay-Tal's purpoted murder and they both end up stumbling from one problem into another as they end up stuck in a village near Eau-Claire, Wisconsin. They find friends and foes along the way, and at the one third point of the story, both characters are separated. Jon has to take the reins to help others.
The writing is fluid, magnetic, & succulently delicious. This is definitely an author to keep a close watch because the prose and storytelling is fabulous. For this first round, I am so voting Yes, Yes, Yes to pass this book to round #2 just to give me the excuse to read to the very end. Even if it doesn't reach the semifinals, the author has won one loyal reader. Good job!… (mais)
