As a dog lover, i was looking forward to reading this book, and I was not disappointed. This is the story of Toby, an all-white German Shepherd, a bit of a genetic freak in the dog world.

This book has ALL the feels, so grab your box of tissues. Told from the standpoint of the dog in the first person (and the humans in the third person), it is a sad and poignant drama of a rescue dog as he deals with abuse and loss of trust in humans, all while managing to be heartwarming and inspiring. It will open the reader's eyes to animal abuse and to animal rescues.

If you were a fan of Bruce Cameron's A Dog's Life, you will enjoy this doggie tale, young and old alike!

Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC that I rushed to try to finish before it was archived (I didn't make it, and I borrowed the book from the library). All opinions here are my own.

It was really sweet and I like how it gave you the view of a trouble who had a rough time in his life and his thoughts about what happened to him.

This book starts with stigmas that German Shepherds with pure white coats are a genetic mutation and impurity in that "family". A farmer tells his farm hand to shoot or drown the two white pups he has. The farm hand hides them near a dumpster when he sees the boss at a gas station. A young couple rescues them then events keep happening from there.

I wept a lot while reading this book. It is about animal cruelty and abuse. These things really traumatize the pet badly. People who abuse animals should be treated to the same laws as if the abuse were done to humans. Animals don't have a voice. Family members of the abusers stand by and let it happen, often times. I would have said this shouldn't be read to children; and I still believe that as a bedtime story. But, they should learn of animal abuse so that it can be stopped.

Thank you G. A. Whitmore, Independent Book Publishers Association Members Titles, and NetGalley for giving me a free ARC copy of this book so that I can read it and give my honest review.
