This is mainly the story of Lydia and Jake courting (Amish style) but we also get to see how the Amish help each other when one of their members is having a hard time. The Bylers's neighbor sends his grandson over to help out with chores and farming while Mr. Byler is in the hospital and recovering. He also alerts the bishop so that the paperwork can be started for paying the hospital bill. Since the Amish don't have insurance, Mr. Byler had to put up his farm as collateral in order for them to do the needed operations.… (mais)
