This is by no means to be taken as a negative review as I have yet to finish this book. This is a warning to anyone that might be upset by graphic talk of extreme bdsm and sexual/emotional abuse against women. I wish I had known before getting hooked into the story.
Review:
I don't read much true crime anymore as my tolerance for violence has greatly diminished over the years. I enjoy more of a police procedural than blood and guts. This book has both. Paul Williams certainly can write true crime well. Police work was very detailed and interesting. That was the reason I could not put down the book once I started. Williams doesn't fill his pages with unnecessary details like what cops looked like, how many kids they have and where their great- great grandparents were from, like many crime writers tend to do.
Upon finishing I read a few reviews on other sites where others felt story was disgusting and Williams shouldn't have written about it. Yes, at times it was absolutely horrible and I did lose a nights sleep, but this review is about the writing and how the story was told. Well done on both counts.
Knowing what I know now I have asked myself would I have chosen to have read it. I honestly don't know. But, I do think people need to know what they are getting themselves into so they can decide, as the book jacket gives no indication.

I have seen the movie and i think it's great but reading the book was totally different. In the book you get to see the two sides of the notorious Martin Cahill. Some people thought he was the modern robbinhood, and others a dangerous criminal. Paul Williams brilliantly gives you the inside story in it's true form, excellent book.
