Originally published in Germany as Der Osterhase, and then translated and adapted in English by Paula Wiseman, The Easter Bunny pairs a simple, matter-of-fact, but also amusing explanation of this holiday rabbit's doings from author Winfried Wolf with appealing watercolor artwork from illustrator Agnès Mathieu. I think my favorite part of the narrative would have to be the Easter Bunny's ability to pick locks his his ears—very helpful, I'm sure!—while visually I was particularly drawn to this rabbit's pastel patchwork pants, in the same shade as the eggs he carries. I don't know that this one is destined to become a holiday favorite, but I am glad to have encountered it, and think it would make an amusing Easter selection, particularly with a child who has asked questions about the Easter Bunny, and whether he is real.
