Nicely made, believable characters, and particularly impressed with the child Nathan (Max Morrow). The film is 20 years old but relevant still, featuring two families with several connections despite rather different circumstances.

There's a low-key Christian theme with several carols sung - an important feature of the story is a Christmas choir - and some very moving scenes. The film is both uplifting and heartbreaking; one we won't forget easily.

Recommended if you like slightly schmaltzy Christmas films.

Acting: 4.0; Theme: 5.0; Content: 5.0; Language: 5.0; Overall: 4.0

This inspirational film is based on the book by Donna Van Liere by the same name. A young woman named Maggie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) is diagnosed with cancer and learns she doesn't have long to live. Her son Nathan (Max Morrow) and husband Jack (Hugh Thompson) are both struggling with their inevitable future without her. There is also a man named Robert (Rob Lowe) who is obsessed with his career, but has little to do with his wife Kate (Maria del Mar) and his daughter Lily (Amber Marshall). As Maggie gets more and more sick, Nathan must find his mother a pair of shoes to meet Jesus in for Christmas. When Nathan lacks the money to buy the shoes at Wilson's department store, Robert happens to be in line behind him as he tries to buy his daughter some last second gifts. This "chance" meeting becomes a very important aspect to both of their lives. Recommended (after reading the book).
