FANG ZENG XIAN

The theme "Rehearsal" of the 2010 Shanghai Biennale - the Chinese is literally 'Touring Rehearsal' - strikes me as both meaningful and dynamic. 'Tour' and 'Rehearse' are both erbs. They proclaim this Biennale to be an artistic event in step with the times. The Shanghai Expo has focused people's attention on urban development, and planning for the Biennale has likewise focused on the city and the city's art, and on creating far reaching exploration of the past, present, and future of cultural thoughts and performance (excerpt from Introduction)… (mais)
