This was amazing. Surreal. Complex. Literary fantastical SF. Sublime prose, verging on poetry at times. Amazing world building, both in terms of the eco-catastrophe/its causes, and the way that the rich have chosen to live their lives post catastrophe. Complex, fascinating characters.

I .. might have missed the Joan of Arc story line early on if it wasn't foregrounded by the blurb, and that would have been a shame.

Particularly recommended if you like Joanna Russ' writing in general, or Brian Aldiss' Barefoot in the head in particular.… (mais)

If I could make love to words, I would make love to the words of Lidia Yuknavitch. I've read all of her published novels and the least great page in her least greatest novel is still better than 99.9 percent of anything else ever written. Chronology of Water is still my favorite, but I think Thrust is now my second favorite. She blends linear storytelling with poetry with dreamlike trance-inducing experimental writing with a style that I can't define

Lydia Yuknavitch is the greatest living writer and this book helps to cement that.

Everything about this book is ridiculous, including the science and the fiction.
