shikari: An expansion of chapter by Dr Brock in a book I used when starting Syriac, J. A. Eaton's Introduction to Semitic Studies. It has a bibliography that again is based, ai yhink, in Dr Brock's contribution to Muraoka's Classical Syriac

shikari: Good learner's textbook. He uses Syriac text without vowel pointing (but with the pointing to distinguish the feminine or perfect verbs from participles) and with transliteration which speeds the process of reading if you want to start by read unpointed Syriac prose (pointing quickly becomes a crutch).

shikari: A new translation and reworking of Brockelmann's 1928 Syriac-Latin dictionary by Michael Sokoloff, author of dictionaries of several orher Aramaic dialects (particularly the dialects of the two Talmuds). This has become the new standard reference dictionary for students of Syriac.

shikari: Still a fundimental Syriac dictionary, this mammoth Syriac-Latin lexicon continues to hold its place as a reference due to its breadth and its use of examples of words in use taten from Syriac literature.

shikari: Useful grammar with a small but helpful vocab. The grammar is a basic reference grammar, but has the Syriac text pointed in the Eastern pointing system, so distinguishing between /ā/ /ō/ and /ū/, /e/ and /ē/.
