Acerca da Minha Biblioteca
While electronic devices are advancing into print media, I find comfort and relaxation in holding an actual book in my hands and turning the pages. Okay, I admit it - I am technologically challenged (and I still have some LPs and I think VHS tapes rock). Through the years I have been lucky enough to come across some "old" books that I actually enjoying dusting. I also inherited some books that my father purchased as antiques during World War II while passing through London. Whether they are old or new, I love books.
Acerca de Mim
Before television was available 24-hrs a day, my parents read to me and taught me to read at a young age. I have two grown children, one almost-grown child and two grandsons – all readers. The only drawback I ever found in reading to them is that I got sleepy before they did. My grandsons look forward to trips to the library with “Gramma”.

I enjoy a wide range of topics and themes - mystery, general fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction history, biography, gardening, cooking. This makes it easy it easy to find something new to read. But I seem to quickly ditch books that rely on sex and violence to keep a reader. If I were to need that for entertainment, I would just go in to work (I’m in law enforcement).

Having a book handy passes time when waiting: in line, at a doctor’s office, for a child to come out of school, take your pick. There is always a book-in-progress in the car, in my purse, even in my work bag. I have been blessed for many years with avid readers among my friends, with many books getting dog-eared from being passed around, and sometimes even wending their way back. I have the same challenge I’m sure many of you do - keeping my bookshelves manageable. One solution I’ve found are the jails, free clinics and soup kitchens, having come across many avid readers in these places through the years.
