I'm a devoted hardcover collector and cringe when I see others using e-readers. Don't get me wrong, I love technology...my IPhone is with me 24/7 and I gladly gave up CD's for ITunes. BUT...there is something special about curling up on the couch with a "real" book.

My library is modest but growing. When I was a kid we were too poor to buy books so I got mine from the library. I remember vividly the horrible feeling when I had to hand over my new friends to the librarian. I promised myself that when I had the money, I would buy all those books and put them in my very own library...and that's what I'm doing.

Love, love, love historical fiction and have a book near me, with me, or in my car at all times. I am not a "snobby" reader but do have distinct likes and dislikes. I like a story that I can get lost in and usually know by the end of chapter one if I will read chapter two. I like historical detail but need character development as well. I often refer to East of Eden as one of my favorite books...that may give you an idea of the writing I enjoy most. Is there anyone better than Steinbeck?
