Acerca de Mim
I enjoy reading and re-reading most of the great classics of the Western canon, but also have an interest in African, West Indian and Asian literatures in English. I enjoy reading poetry, especially that of Emily Dickinson, W. B. Yeats, Robert Frost, Henry W. Longfellow, Umberto Saba, Anthony Hecht and much of Tennyson. I teach music (piano) from my private studio at home, and have an interest in music scores, musicology and biographies of musicians. J. S. Bach's organ music, Brahms' piano and chamber music, Beethoven piano sonatas, Gyorgy Ligeti's etudes for piano, Mahler symphonies, Shostakovich's Preludes and Fugues for piano and Bartok's String Quartets 4, 5 and 6 are among my favourite music.

I would describe myself as a secular humanist with an attraction toward some of the ideas in Epicurean philosophy. Indeed, philosophy is another subject area that has interested me more and more in recent years. I am intrigued by the relationship between language and reality, which is why I am starting to become more interested in epistemology, philosophical aesthetics and logic.

As a tournament chess player I also have a small collection of chess books. I am interested in the latest in chess theory.

And if all this doesn't convince you of my credentials as a fully fledged geek, I'm also interested in libraries. I also like animals, especially cats (and parrots).

Occasionally I like to mix things up a bit by watching some Australian Rules Football (AFL) or International Test series cricket with a beer or two.

I am in my early 50's and this is the best time of my life. Love, literature, music, travel, beauty and the sublime make life wonderful!
