Acerca da Minha Biblioteca
This catalog has been created to show the resources available on Allen Ginsberg's poem, Howl, at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Oakland, (and sometimes in the branches); I have also included some resources freely available on the internet. This catalog accompnaies a 2-part video you can find on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Me9OQDsOg
'Howl' is certainly among the most influential single poems in American letters; from the moment a little-known Ginsberg read the poem to a bohemian San Francisco audience (October 1955), the poet and the poem gained almost instant notoriety. For those who wish to study more about the poem's origins, its legal battle to overcome censorship, or its legacy, I hope you will find this catalog helpful. I have included the location and call numbers of each book or AV resource in the Comments field, and have added notes into the Review field as to the resource's relevancy to Howl. For further resources (including articles) on Allen Ginsberg at CLP, please see the following reference list, put together by poetry librarian, Don Wentworth: http://www.carnegielibrary.org/research/literature/authorsheets/ginsberg.html
