"You work on the Byzantines? They are in the Dark Ages for me." Joked a friend. Although I later learned to prove this idea wrong, the idea of Dark Ages stuck with me.

I am a trainee accountant based in Yorkshire, England. Prior to this job, I was a full-time researcher interested in medieval economic history of the Eastern Mediterranean. While no longer a researcher by profession, I decided to keep track of my reading related to these interests. My book collection may seem eclectic, but so does information contained in the historical sources. I have also started trying out fictions with medieval themes.
