Acerca da Minha Biblioteca
I prefer to read literary fiction, but sometimes digress into biographies and non-fiction. The only genres I don't like are magical realism, fantasy, romance and science fiction (especially post-apocalyptic with or without zombies). I think that literature is a way of connecting with timeless emotions and experiences. I love books that leave me with something to think about long after I've finished the book.

"Pity the poor in spirit who know neither the enchantment nor the beauty of language "
--Muriel Barbery: The Elegance of the Hedgehog

"err in the direction of kindness..."
-George Saunders

Compassion is language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
~Mark Twain~

Acerca de Mim
Reading has always been a pleasure - some may say an addiction - for me. I was an English major in college so that I could explore this passion more fully. I have had adult basic literacy students for many years because I can't imagine a world without the joy of reading, let alone the practical aspects of knowing how to read. I tend to panic if I don't have a very large backlog of books waiting to be read, and LT has provided even more to my toppling pile. My daughters say that their earliest memory of me is reading my own book or reading one to them. I can think of no greater legacy than the love of reading.
