Recipient is not the account.

Gift is for: Rachel (15 yo daughter)

Book tastes

Rachel likes very deep books that make you think. She prefers fiction and some of her favorite books include A Series of Unfortunate Events (when she was younger), The High House by James Stoddard, and The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. She doesn't have many genre preferences and she has read everything from non-fiction to poetry.
She is an advanced reader so don't get to concerned with reading level, plot complexity etc.

Don't get this!

fobgirl12: The Inheritance Games Trilogy sounds like a good choice, the classic The Westing Game too. (Nov 29, 2023, 11:02am)
saroz: These are a little odd, but I think good choices for a 15yo girl would be Shirley Jackson's "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" and/or Joan Lindsay's "Picnic at Hanging Rock." Those are eerie, not-quite-horror stories that left me turning over and over just what had happened in my mind when I was her exact age. Lots to think about. (Sarah Waters' "The Little Stranger" is also a great book in this vein, but it's a bit denser and I can't claim I was a teenager when I read it.)

Something much (much) heavier would be Markus Zusak's "The Book Thief," but it might also be a good choice. (Nov 26, 2023, 1:44am)
_missnomer_: If she’s read A Series Of Unfortunate Events, maybe the prequel series All The Wrong Questions.

One of my personal favorite books is The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. It’s fiction, it’s not exactly “makes you think” but I thought about the twist at the end for days. Another book like that is When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead.

She’d probably like Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo because it’s written with understandable language but it has a lot of twists and layers to think about.

I was going to recommend the runaway jury but I saw she’s already read it. I also noticed she’s read The Hunger Games, and if she liked those, I think she’d like Percy Jackson too. (Nov 25, 2023, 1:20pm)
