Has anyone read The Kerry Greenwood series about a PI called Phryne Fisher? I am reading one for a book club and am finding it very good so far. There are 18 books in the series and a companion as well. The ladies would like these as they have fashion, cooking and of course men in them LOL

I've been looking at this one for a while and found 'Murder in Montparnasse' in a second-hand store. Grabbed it even though it is not the first in the series (and I like to read them in order) but they are hard to come by in the UK and elsewhere. I have yet to read it as I am still very much in an English cosy phase :-)

What would you compare it to?

I liked Away with the Fairies very much. I had a little trouble getting into Death at Victoria Dock, but overall I have enjoyed these books. Need to get the first one, Cocaine Blues. I think it is always better when you read the books in order. It really helps little things make sense and adds more to the character development.

I like Phyrne Fisher. She's sharp and Kerry Greenwood has developed her character so well. I've been reading alot of American cozies lately so will return to English and Australian cozies soon.

Sounds like I should really try to get the first one! Another for my list :-)

I've only read Cocaine Blues so far, and I really enjoyed it. I can't really think of anything current to compare it to; it has a similar feel to the Mr. & Mrs. North mysteries from many years ago (Murder is Suggested is the only title coming to mind right now) but that may be more because the era is similar.

My local mystery indie bookstore keeps these in stock, and they do mail order. Contact them at or 888-4-AGATHA. (I have no connection to the store - I just love them).

Her Corinne Chapman series is better ...

I'm collecting these too. I find they are just a fun bubbly read, and take no time at all. Trick is to space them out! They may be more obvious in stores in Australia soon as I believe the ABC has made a series of the stories.

Thanks for the website, I really like mysteries. I just received the first 10 boos in the Tea Shop Mystery series. Got to start reading, but, I'll keep the Kerry Greenwood books in mind for future ordering.

All the Phryne Fisher books are good and the ABC series was well done as well. I haven't read any of the Corinna Chapman baked goods books but my Mum enjoyed a couple of them. I am going to a literary event with Kerry Greenwood as the guest speaker in early August so will report here about it.

Just started reading an old series by MC Beaton ( The Agatha Raisin Mysteries ). I went to my second had bookstore and picked up a copy of The Quiche of Death; the 1st in the Agatha Raisin series. If I like this one, I plan on reading more in the series. I am an avid fan of anything English/British Mysteries. Will report back on how I like this one.....still haven't tired any on fhe Kerry Greenwod stuff yet, so, I'm very interested in how you find Kerry Greenwood............

I just discovered this series a few months ago. I've been lucky enough to read them in order...I just finished #7 I'm not sure how many there are i think 20? The first books were really good...then a few back to good. I like that all the characters keep growing & they sometimes allude to things in the past.

I do think they can be read as stand alones, though.
