I know there are a lot of people out there who might differ with me, but I must say I think Katniss should have chased after Gale. Just saying.

2sarahy
Abr 6, 2011, 5:50 pm

I dont know.... I think I liked Gale as a character more, but Peeta might be easier for Katniss to live with, because they balance each other. Sorry, I keep using the term balance, its just that's how i think of it.

Abr 7, 2011, 7:58 pm

I have to agree with sarahy; Peeta and Katniss complement each other really well. I just finished Mockingjay, and I liked it, but the defeat of the capital and Prim's death were way to fast.

4mrmcfluff
Abr 7, 2011, 8:35 pm

MockingJay was one of the worst finale books i have ever read!!
Did you like it??

5mrmcfluff

MockingJay was one of the worst finale books i have ever read!!
Did you like it??

6swimfreak14
Abr 7, 2011, 8:39 pm

I thought it was okay, but i liked the hunger games way more. same with catching fire. the epilogue for mockingjay was good though. a little too short though

7mrmcfluff
Abr 8, 2011, 5:58 pm

Same, but this finale to a great series was a big dissapointment.

8swimfreak14
Abr 8, 2011, 7:35 pm

exactly

9mrmcfluff
Abr 8, 2011, 7:47 pm

Let's get back to the greatness of the series.
Lets try to compare and contrast Gale and Peeta.
Tell me what you think!!

10swimfreak14
Abr 8, 2011, 7:54 pm

Gale Pro's: Always stands by Katniss
Awesome fighter and hunter
Great friend
Really brave-- especially in Mockingjay
Gale Con's: Too tough. It's almost unrealistic
Likes Katniss more than a friend

Peeta Pro's: Saved Katniss' life countless times
Good actor during The Games
Cares so much about Katniss
Good baker/cake froster/drawer!
Peeta Con's: Sometimes he acts like a pretty boy! (not a lot)
Tried to choke Katniss! (in Mockingjay)

11mrmcfluff
Abr 8, 2011, 8:59 pm

Lol, nice list of traits from swimfreak!!
Anybody think they can top that???

12Mariah7
Abr 10, 2011, 12:59 pm

the only thing i didnt like about mockingjay was the very very end. katniss's life was so dreay and boring. but now that i am thinking about it, it makes sense. after going through ALL that i think every one would just close in on themselves and act like a zombie.
oh and i hate that finnick died! he was my favorite and his death was way too fast. and it left annie?? (was that her name) all alone with a kid.

anyhoo...i think katniss and peeta are right for eachother. gale got kinda crazy and kill happy.

13swimfreak14
Abr 10, 2011, 1:40 pm

haha! you're right about Gale!

14mrmcfluff
Abr 10, 2011, 3:30 pm

I understand what your saying about gale but i think that Peeta is to much of a farmer boy for him and katniss to be true soul mates.

I personally hated mockingjay all the way after Peeta tried to choke katniss. When I got to the part where Prim died I wanted to cry for hours and never read a book again!! But I kept reading and it got even worse!!

15sarahy
Abr 10, 2011, 5:54 pm

i think that peeta will help bring katniss back down to reality from winning the hunger games. she doesnt need to be around any more killing than she needs to!

16Mariah7
Abr 10, 2011, 11:28 pm

when i got to prim's death i gasped but didnt feel sad. not sure why...i guess she didnt leave a big impression on me.

17mrmcfluff
Abr 10, 2011, 11:44 pm

Well I have a big thing for sister connections and when I read it I felt so bad for katniss.
That was probably the only part in the whole series
When i truly felt sorry for her.

18Mariah7
Abr 10, 2011, 11:47 pm

hmmm....

19mrmcfluff
Abr 10, 2011, 11:54 pm

I didn't feel sorry for her at all until that moment. I don't think the author wanted you to feel sorry for her though.

20Mariah7
Abr 10, 2011, 11:55 pm

yea she was supposed to be strong but then she crumbled at the end.

21mrmcfluff
Abr 16, 2011, 3:47 pm

We should start a totally new topic just about katniss!

22bubblegum99
Abr 18, 2011, 5:39 pm

Sometimes going from a friendship to a real relationship gets awkward, but Gale has more in common with Katniss than Peeta. They wouldn't have even met if it hadn't been for the Games, which is obviously a scarring memory for them both. Gale brings back happy memories. If I married somebody who would dig up awful thoughts every time I saw them I would hate them! TEAM GALE!!!!!

23mrmcfluff
Abr 18, 2011, 8:45 pm

Nice points!!
Do we have any people with some good points who are team Peeta!!??

24Mariah7
Abr 19, 2011, 3:21 pm

gale got kill happy at the end.
peeta is so sweet and a saves katniss countless times. peeta and katniss have things in common! i mean they went through two games together, lived in the same district, and all that jazz. peeta stays with katniss after everything, gale leaves her!

25mrmcfluff
Abr 19, 2011, 4:46 pm

Here is a point I have to make.

Gale had something to leave for, like a better job and future. Were as Peeta was just going home to be a hunger games winner and maybe be a baker or something again

26Mariah7
Abr 20, 2011, 4:00 pm

gale could have taken katniss with him. it just proves that he doesnt love her...or he just got tired of the BS and left(like i would have).

27sarahy
Abr 24, 2011, 5:58 pm

yeah, ive gotta be team peeta, because he is so sweet and even-tempered he balances out katniss plus she kind of unraveled at the end he was the only one she really listened to, if you ask me.

28Mariah7
Abr 25, 2011, 6:56 pm

exactly what i was saying...

29FantasyGirl2
Maio 3, 2011, 2:17 am

OK. Here's my argument:

All through the first, and the second, I was all for Gale for Katniss. But then...in the third? I dunno what happened to him. He went a little too...extreme? I'm not sure. But I know that wasn't the Gale Katniss (or I!) fell in love with.
He left her, not because he didn't love her, I think, but because of that bomb. (SPOILER!!!) Prim's death in of itself wasn't Gale's fault, but if any of you remember, Katniss had expressed her distaste of the bombs, and it was those bombs that eventually ended her life. So I think Gale left because he was ashamed. And who in their right minds is gonna go up to the girl they love and go "Yeah, sorry my bombs that you SAID WERE BAD killed your little sis, who you love the most in the world, but would you pretty please marry me?"
22: I would do the same. And that would hold true of the first two books. But in the third, you must remember that every time she thinks of Gale, she will think of Prim, who died. And that is the worst memory.

At least we can say that Gale DOES genuinely love her, because he goes to rescue Peeta, because he knows that would make her happy. To make sure Peeta is safe. And he does that.Even tho he is/was intensely jealous of Peeta.

Oh, and besides, remember what Gale said? Katniss would choose the one that would be most crucial to her survival. And I think he knew she would pick Peeta, and the reason she would/did. And also, I doubt anyone would think that someone who killed your little sis would be best for your survival. AND Peeta knows what she's been through.

Yes, I know, I know. I'm a traitor and everything. I, too, once thought Gale was best for her. But that was the Gale of book 1 and 2. The Gale who was the only one that could cut through her pain and grief and MAKE HER LISTEN. Remember the end of Catching Fire?) The Gale of Book 3 is completely different.
It was the third book. That changed my opinion. Ugh.

30sarahy
Maio 3, 2011, 5:33 pm

definiely. i think i would like peeta as a person better which kind of swayed my opinion, but i think i am glad that she went with peeta, even though katniss was the one person he had to avoid for most of the third book......

31mrmcfluff
Maio 3, 2011, 7:28 pm

Would all of you guys opinions change if catching fire was the last book and the whole series ended right them and there??

Who would you pick then if you hadn't of read the third book??

32sarahy
Maio 4, 2011, 5:48 pm

hmmmm im not sure maybe but im still team peeta!!

33swimfreak14
Maio 4, 2011, 6:30 pm

Team Peeta all the way!

34Mariah7
Maio 4, 2011, 11:06 pm

Team Peeta.

35mrmcfluff
Editado: Maio 5, 2011, 7:37 pm

Is anyone team Gale??

36Mariah7
Maio 7, 2011, 12:21 am

i think the last book changed everyones mind. (not me i was always team peeta) but in the begining there were lots of team gale.

37swimfreak14
Maio 7, 2011, 10:55 am

Yeah I wasn't really any 'team' until the third book. I always liked Peeta more, though.

38mrmcfluff
Maio 7, 2011, 11:08 am

Do you think gale should get any points for him leaving katniss and letting her be with Peeta??

39swimfreak14
Maio 7, 2011, 3:02 pm

Good point. That was nice of him. Although he really only left cause he didn't want Katniss to be mad at him because it could have been his bomb that killed Prim.

40Mariah7
Maio 7, 2011, 11:50 pm

i dont think he was being nice. i think he felt guilty.
but if katniss really really wanted to be with Peeta i believe he would have backed off and let them be together, so katniss could be happy.
i dont know if katniss truely picked peeta out of love. i think he was the only one there, knew what she was going through so why not live with him and make babies. if gale stayed he might have changed her mind, if she ever got over the whole bomb thing.

41sarahy
Maio 8, 2011, 5:34 pm

i give gale points because by the end of the book, i think he kind of gave in and just wanted katniss to be happy.

42swimfreak14
Maio 10, 2011, 9:54 pm

Mariah7 has a point, though. And he did want Katniss to be happy because he loved her in a friendly way.

43mrmcfluff
Maio 21, 2011, 5:28 pm

Does anyone think that in the movie, the director might have changed the ending to have katniss actually fall in love with gale??

44bubblegum99
Maio 21, 2011, 9:34 pm

No way! They will want to make a Catching Fire movie, and a Katniss/Gale pairing would totally screw that up.

45sarahy
Maio 23, 2011, 6:05 pm

yeah somehow i dont think they would mess it up too much......

46mrmcfluff
Jun 10, 2011, 9:10 am

As we start making the LONG countdown to the release of the first movie i am going to kinda combine two topics with this question, so here it is. Do you think that the chemistry with the actors be better between katniss and gale or katniss and Peeta??

47Mariah7
Jun 10, 2011, 1:26 pm

katniss and peeta. peeta and katniss will be together a lot.

48sarahy
Jun 10, 2011, 6:49 pm

well i think both, because katniss and gale has to appear natural and like a "forever" relationship, but peeta and katniss have to have great chemistry, even if it looks a little fake, because its supposed to!

49mrmcfluff
Jun 10, 2011, 6:56 pm

I hope the main characters are really good actors to pull it off!!

50sarahy
Jun 10, 2011, 7:57 pm

yeah ive seen gale's actor in the last song with miley cyrus and he was pretty good but it wasnt nearly as hard a movie as these r gonna b!

51Mariah7
Jun 11, 2011, 4:23 pm

why would gale and katniss need appear to have a forever relationship?? im confused. haha

i love that movie. yea he was really good in it.

52sarahy
Jun 12, 2011, 6:07 pm

well arent they supposed to b really close friends! like, they know all there is to know about eachother, right...? someone help me out!!

53Mariah7
Jun 12, 2011, 8:03 pm

ooo ok now i get you!
so hopefully they can appear to be close without it being cheezy and forced.

54sarahy

55Mariah7
Jun 13, 2011, 12:35 pm

yet strong. so they better play it perfectly! haha

56mrmcfluff
Ago 24, 2011, 8:33 pm

I was thinking as I was looking at the actors who are going to play gale and Peeta. I just wanted to ask your guys opinion on, what you think on if the actors who played gale and peeta were switched. So if Josh hutcherson played gale and visa versa?? Thoughts??

57Mariah7
Ago 25, 2011, 10:37 am

i like josh for peeta. he doesnt look like a gale to me. so i wouldnt like it.

58sarahy
Ago 25, 2011, 11:09 am

i think that josh looks nicer than liam. lol. so i think he has the image for peeta, but gale looks old to me! has anyone been on the hunger games movie website?

Whose with me on that one??

71Mariah7
Out 23, 2011, 10:11 pm

i just reread it also recently. its just as amazing. but now im realizing how katniss is kinda annoying? idk if thats exactly it. and the whole kissing time in the cave is cheesy. But i think its supposed to be because katniss is 'acting'. Peeta is great though. :)

72mrmcfluff
Out 24, 2011, 12:32 am

Gotta love Peeta.
And as I am re reading it I like gale less and less.

73mrmcfluff
Out 24, 2011, 12:33 am

Btw I just sat down and read the entire day and finished the entire book in like 7 hours.

74Mariah7
Out 24, 2011, 11:47 pm

wow! i cant sit that long...even with an amazing book.
gale is in so little though. my opinion has stayed the same. even through catching fire. i feel so bad for him. he gets so excited and then is let down again. (im at the part where he got whipped...btw).

75ErisofDiscord
Out 25, 2011, 11:01 am

Gale and Peeta are both pretty boring characters. Honestly, by the time I finished Mockingjay I really didn't care which one Katniss ended up with. Especially since Katniss had gotten real irritating in the third book. Only my opinion - hope I don't make anybody mad.

76Mariah7
Out 25, 2011, 11:21 am

just your opinion....we still like you. :)

Many thanks!

78ghostboy94
Out 27, 2011, 8:32 pm

Well lets not forget that Katniss in the 1st book she and Peeta were labeled as star-crossed lovers. And in the 2nd book in order to stop a new revolution needed to persuade any other people that didn't believe that they were in love to marry Peeta.

79ghostboy94
Out 27, 2011, 8:33 pm

I'm going to start a new team called team Katniss. Enough with just 2 boys. This is starting to sound like Twilight. UGH

80mrmcfluff
Out 27, 2011, 10:53 pm

Lol so true.
I personally did like katniss a lot in the first book. But once I started reading mockingjay I felt her character and values were lacking.
But I am so team katniss when I to comes to book one.

81ErisofDiscord
Out 28, 2011, 12:17 pm

Thank mrmclfuff! I feel the same way! Katniss was super cool in the first book, but in Mockingjay she was totally devoid of her common sense and values.

SPOILER ALERT!
I mean, she decided to go on her little crusade to kill President Snow, but then she didn't even succeed! And then Suzanne Collins started killing characters off left and right, that it didn't really affect me. So when Prim died, it didn't really sadden me. I just didn't care. Am I ranting, or did I just make any sense?

82mrmcfluff
Out 28, 2011, 6:31 pm

No I get what your saying.

83mrmcfluff
Out 28, 2011, 6:32 pm

For me, and this is with pretty much all series. I don't understand why authors like to have so many people diein the final book. I mean I get how they try and make it dramatic and everything, but still.
What do you guys think??

84Mariah7
Out 30, 2011, 2:27 am

i hated that finnick died. his death so fast and afterward...not a big deal. finnick was my favorite.

with prim's death i didnt really care. shes not really in the books at all i never grew attached to her. in catching fire she seriously has like four lines.

as for katniss...im not sure. i just started rereading mockingjay so i will have to see after.

85mrmcfluff
Out 30, 2011, 11:13 am

See I really liked prim in the first book, but mariah you are do right, she was barely in the other ones.

86sarahy
Nov 3, 2011, 5:46 pm

i was sadder when rue died than when prim did.... thats not right.

and #79- but i like peeta better than either gale or katniss. same with twilight. i like either guy better than bella.

87mrmcfluff
Nov 3, 2011, 6:31 pm

That's because Bella doesn't really do anything except cry alot.

88sarahy
Nov 4, 2011, 5:23 pm

yeah... she doesnt have much of an identity. shes clumsy, but otherwise her entire identity is those two guys fighting over her.

Alright guys keep the debate civilized.

95ErisofDiscord
Jan 7, 2012, 2:03 pm

However, I do think that Katniss is better with Peeta. Gale is a bit too fiery for Katniss - she needs a stabilizing force, so Peeta is good for her.

96mrmcfluff
Jan 7, 2012, 11:15 pm

Would you guys characterize Katniss as a fiery spirit or just strong spirited with some anger issues sometimes??

97Mariah7
Jan 8, 2012, 12:40 am

both. she is a strong character with very good reasons to be mad!

98GinnyW
Jan 8, 2012, 4:55 pm

Yeah and I think in the last book she just cracked and got upset about everything. But I think she chose Peeta because he was the only person who truly understood what the games had been like. The one thing that bothers me is he was still affected by tracker jacker venom, right? So was he ever the same?

99mrmcfluff
Jan 8, 2012, 6:09 pm

I guess we will never know.
Unless Suzanne Collins writes a book from the point of view of Peeta.

105mrmcfluff
