I would appreciate any help you can give me in finding this story. I remember reading this in high school I believe. A married couple (both 'midgets') set up their estate to be just their size with ponies to ride on, etc. Eventually they have a son, who is not a midget. It becomes harder and harder for them and eventually (When he starts bringing college friends home I think?) I believe the commit suicide. But I could be wrong on that last point.

Parts of this story have stuck with me but I would like to read it again. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I have definitely read this in the last few years. I will have a think and try to remember who wrote it.

Edited to add: You could try looking at the books I have tagged as 'short stories' to see if any of the titles or covers look familiar, but I haven't entered all my books yet.

Thank you for keeping an eye out for me! Sadly I don't remember what the cover looks like or have any idea what the title is :P It was years ago that I read it. I remember I loved reading about the estate they had set up where everything was 'just their size'.

I don't know if you are still looking for this, but I have found it. It is a story within a story in Aldous Huxley's Crome Yellow which I am currently re-reading.

Henry Wimbush is reading to his guests from his History of Crome and tells them the story of the 18th century dwarves Sir Hercules and Lady Filomena and their normal sized son Ferdinando. It contains all the plot points you mentioned in your post.
