Paganism had defeated Christianity?

I often wonder how history would've been changed if Paganism had defeated Chiristianity and had become one of the major World Religions while Chiristianity was relegated to a brief foot note in history. Instead of worshipping God people would've worshipped the Goddess like women and men had been doing before Chirsitianity came along and tried to convert the Pagans
and began killing people who practiced the Pagan Reilgion. Imagine how it would've been unlawful to practice Chirstianity even in secret because if you were found out you would've been killed for practicing Christianity. Would the world be a much better place with Goddess worhship? I imagine it would be something like you saw in the movie The Mists of Avalon. I love that movie. Sometimes I wish Paganism had defeated Christianity.
