An evening of performance and reading celebrating Indigenous poetics and
politics with Cathie Dunsford, Karin Meissenberg, and Qwo-Li Driskill
Saturday, April 7, 7 pm Toronto Women's Bookstore, 73 Harbord St.
Cathie Dunsford reads from her Cowrie novels, performs traditional Maori
powhiri (welcome), karanga (call), haka (dance), waiata (song), and plays
the conch shell. Karin Meissenburg introduces and accompanies her on the
Ocarina, creating a lesbian feminist feast of words and music. Qwo-Li
Driskillreads from hir poetry, including from hir book Walking with Ghosts,
written from a contemporary Cherokee, Queer, and mixed-race perspective.
Come and enjoy a queer feminist evening of Indigenous storytelling.
