Hello, I joined LT yesterday and am still trying to figure my way around. This is the first group I have joined but found that it has been dormant for the last 90 days. Hope this message revives it. Best wishes and Hello to the group.

Hi ashok-malhotra! Welcome to LT in general and this group specifically. The OU group here has never been massively active but I guess there's a good reason for it being especially quiet right now and that is because a lot of courses finished in October, while students of courses that are still cotninuing until January are busy slogging away at their final assignment. I personally suspect that TMAs are often the reason why this group goes quiet every now and then.

Presumably you are also an OU student so I think we'll have a lot to sympathise about and any time you do feel like posting to the group there's usually a response, no matter how quiet things seem. Which course are you studying? I did my BA with the OU some years ago and am now coming up to the end of the first year of my Literature Masters with the dissertation looming next year. Because of disability, I don't get to go to the tutorials and am consatntly griping about this but I guess studying in India must be a lot more difficult still and puts my little moans into perspective. I hope things are going well for you and that you have a good time here on LT.

Hello Booksloth

No I am not a student but I have been a Professor of engineering at different universities in three countries. I joined this group because it was on of the LT
recommendations. A Masters in Literature sounds exciting. What kind of authors are you focussing on? Yes for sure it is a pity to miss tuts but if you can find out what was covered in them from another student that might compensate a bit.

Thanks for your good wishes and best of luck with your OU programs

Ashok

Hi Ashok! Welcome to the group! No, it's not so much dormant, but, as Booksloth said, because the academic year has just started, we tend to be busy at the moment! I am also doing a Master in English Literature by distance learning and I teach part-time French (to English expats) and English (to French students) to pay for my books and travel expenses (for when I go to other libraries).

Thanks Sonia. Sounds like you are doing excellent work in both English and French. Best wishes for your work and to you.
