Hope you don't mind my starting a new Readathons thread; the old one was over 450 posts long. You can link back to it here.

I'm hosting a Drop-In readathon this weekend, from 3:00 EST Friday, December 2, through 3:00 EST Monday, Deccember 5. Here is the link, in case you'd like to join us.

This is a great idea to start a new thread. :)

I'm thinking of setting one up towards the end of December, after Christmas but before New Year's Eve. Not sure on exact dates yet. Just thought I'd throw it out there so people could think about it--I know lots of people are ridiculously busy around then. As we get closer, let me know which days work best for you all :)

I will participate as best I can. I need to finished 4 books to reach 75 for the year and that is the push I need.

I'll be there at least part of the time.

I'll be back home on the 26th and could participate after that. No New Year's plans to interrupt!

I would probably participate, as I'll be at my MIL's for Christmas and New Years with not a lot to do while the hubby tackles DIY projects for them...

I'll not be able to participate as kids are out of school and in my hair!

I can participate in the end of year readathon .. because I've got a few days off.

Wonderful! I've only been able to read for class the last few months and just need to binge read some fluff :)

I'll let you all know when I pick a day.

I'm in too - I'm working but it's pretty quiet, so I've got lots of free time!

I'm pretty sure I can make an appearance, it will depend on the weather.

I'd be in for an end=of-year readathon. Probably just to drop in. . .

I'd love to join in, it would be easier for me to do so from the evening of 29 December, when we get home from my mum's.

I generally do 11 hrs of working on Fridays. What if we did a very relaxed long one from the 28th through the 30th? That way, everyone can just pop in when they have time around other plans/obligations. And I have 4 or 5 ER books, so extra motivation is good :) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we did something like this already. Seem like a good plan to everyone?

That sounds like a great plan. I will hopefully be able to join in for most of it. I need to finish my current books for this year.

yes, great plan indeed.

I need an excuse to sit down and get a pile of these books read over the holidays. Hopefully I'll be able to join!!!

15> Yes, the last one I hosted was a Friday-to-Monday "Drop-In Readathon." I think people enjoyed the no-pressure approach, especially in the crazy weeks before the holidays.

Oh goody.. I think I'll start prepping for the readathon by putting aside the books that I know I'm going to need undivided attention for. Night Circus is at the top of the planned pile.

Fantastisch! I'll set up a thread after Christmas and we can all have a leisurely read-a-thon to end the year :)

Now that sounds like a plan! I've got the whole of Christmas/New Year off this year so I'd been planning on spending a couple of those days curled up with Mount TBR. Now I'll have company!

I'm already starting to put books aside for the readathon! ;-)

Hopefully this readathon will be the push I need to read my current books. I just don't have the desire to read right now.

Aww... I can sympathize ... I get into book funks every now and again too. Not a fun feeling at all not to desire to read. I hope your funk is over by the time the readathon starts.

I am so totally there for the readathon. However long it goes for, the longer the better!

Hi there, remember me? Katie, you couldn't have picked better timing! Unless the weather goes all snowy and wintry (*pleasepleaseplease*) we'll probably be opening the shop for the bank holidays on 27 Dec and 2 January, then heading back to work as normal on 5 January so this readathon is perfect! Count me in... My first readathon since this time last year, I can't wait!

I have a pile of books I just picked up at the library that I plan/hope to read for this read-a-thon. Maybe I will be able to reach 75 books this year.

Dez 22, 2011, 11:21 am

Well Ellie, we shall hope conditions remain whatever they need to be for your participation :)

I'm not really planning ahead, but I have a couple that I want to read, one I want to finish, and a stack of ER books I really should get to. . .

32elliepotten
Dez 22, 2011, 3:53 pm

I've got SO many books that need reading! I've still got to finish three books for a blog challenge, plus I have a heap of review books and shiny new stuff I've been buying, plus a pile of library books. So, plenty to be going at, then. A read-a-thon might be just what I need!

I stumbled on a read-a-thon for this weekend. I don't think I'll be able to participate, but thought I'd share the link: http://www.librarything.com/topic/142619
