Hi everybody - good luck to you in your reading goals this year. My goal is just to make time to keep reading!

It's the last day of January and I've finally finished a book! It was a good one: The Buddha in the Attic. Loved it.

Oh no, am I only going to finish one book per month this year? At least they were both good so far. Loved Tiki Palaces. Read SqueakyChu and Cariola's reviews for more info. ;)

Finished LTER book Hearts On Fire, which is a YA book containing a profile of 12 young visionaries making a difference in the world. It's okay. Not enough 'how-to' in it, I think, but for kids it's a start.

Help, Thanks, Wow was just what I needed - an easy-to-read reminder to quit stressing so much.

Billy Lynn's - oh my goodness, I just love that Billy. What a great book.

Transatlantic - so excellent!

Yolana, at Barnes & Noble the other day, it was all I could do to hold myself back from forcing a copy of Transatlantic into each shopper's hands... :)

On vacation I finally finished a couple of books, yay! Both were great airplane/road trip reads: Beautiful Ruins and an LTER, His Majesty's Hope.

I enjoyed Beautiful Ruins as well. I agree that it is a great vacation book.

My sister was so excited to get my hand-me-down Transatlantic in the mail in her birthday package. I finished that one with good timing. :)

Finished another LTER - Imperfect Harmony. I thought I was going to be a fairly good target audience for this book, but, it was overlong and meh.

Three I started but didn't finish: Violinist's Thumb and Yes, Chef and Night Circus. I was enjoying all of them, but just not able to complete them before I had to return them to the library.

My sister gave me Less Stress, More Success. Browsed the whole book and read a few chapters that were helpful, as my daughter's working on her college applications now. (Wish I would've had this book last year, actually...)

A couple of weeks ago, I made the mistake of going to work and staying much too long on the day I needed to catch a flight. Gave myself only 15 minutes to pack and barely made it to the gate as our airplane had arrived and was unloading. Sat down, took a deep breath, and realized - oh no! - I forgot to grab a book! So I ran to the book shop, scanned the shelves quickly, and bought Gold for my trip.

It was a good page-turner for a plane trip, but if I had picked it up at home, with all these other books piled around me waiting to be read, I probably wouldn't have finished it... Not as good as Incendiary or Little Bee.

Finally got Gone Girl from the library. It was so fun to read during a stay-up-all-night readathon session!

Stuck in a waiting room or airplane without anything to read is one of my biggest fears. Glad you found something!

I've had quite a few bummer books this year - picked them up and gave up on them - but finally finished one during Christmas vacation. It was The Goldfinch. Loved the beginning of the story, got sucked in right away - but got tired of all the awful drugs and drinking and all that. Had to finish the big fat book anyway, to see what happened - testament to the great writing and the storytelling. Happy 2014!
