How did you like Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi? Were you laughing out loud, or was the book too ridiculous for you? Was there any throwing of the book at the wall? Let us know how you felt...

This was my second time reading this book, and so I was really able to pay attention the writing style and plot structure.

It really is remarkably good for a practice novel. The writing style is neat, with some nice turns of phrase. The plot is coherent, which is really rare for a practice novel. The characters all have a similar "voice", but at least that's an entertaining voice. All in all, if every self-published novel was this good the Death Of Traditional Publishing that people wail about might actually happen :-D

One point that myself and Dave agreed on at Book Chat was that the ending was a little too easy. The pretty actress, who would be the perfect Trojan horse, just happens to be the one character who gets into an accident? And she has no-one who will miss her, apart from the main character who conveniently is her Emergency Contact? Rather than confront the ethical issues of Body Snatching, it's very conveniently sidestepped.

Still, it's a good book and one that I'd recommend to people... as I did when I picked it for Book Chat :-D
