I do not know exactly where to start this...if anyone is interested or even around, but I am proposing the following, and asking for criticism, feedback, and leads as to whom I should read that may affirm/refute my thoughts/leadings...

Faithfulness and Abandonment

Sin and abandonment causes emptiness, brokenness, and devastation in life. Yet, Jesus has countered these things with his righteousness, faithfulness, fullness, wholeness, and restoration.

We counter the abandonments of life with a reminding ourselves of God's faithfulness. Jesus was abandoned by God and men; he pressed on faithfully. When we are abandoned by men, we may press on faithfully by the Spirit of Christ.

When relationships break down we try to work towards reconciliation. If we am not handling this biblically, we need God’s Word to tell us what more we should do.

Jesus, fully human and fully God, walked by the Spirit. He was abandoned, that is “forsaken,” by His Father.

How can there be abandonment in God?

God is love; he is disposed to do good to all. The contrary of his attribute of love is hate; a disposition not to do good to some. Malachi 2

God is faithful; he is disposed to adhering firmly and devotedly to someone or something. The contrary of his faithfulness is abandonment; he is not disposed to adhering firmly and devotedly to some.

God’s faithfulness to himself is made known in that he upholds his holiness, while the consequence is his abandonment of all sin.

I'm not certain if this is the kind of recommendation you want, but the title of your post made me think of a book that is on my "to read" list, but hasn't quite made it to the top yet: Stephen Charnock's "The Existence and Attributes of God". In his book "Meet the Puritans", Joel Beeke says "This is THE work on the character and attributes of God. It should be read by every serious Christian. The twelfth discourse on the goodness of God, covering nearly 150 pages, is unsurpassed in all of English literature." J.I. Packer also recommends it highly. Like I said, I can't say, since I'm currently deep into Sibbes' complete works, but Charnock is going to be up soon.
