Deep South Magazine Summer 2014 Reading List

I was just curious if anyone else on LT is reading through Deep South Magazine's summer reading list. It seemed to be the perfect topic for this forum - so, anyone else?

I just looked at this list after reading your post. I love Southern authors. I haven't read a single one of these boos although I am familiar with several of the authors. Thanks for sharing this list. I'm going to print it and keep it handy.

Does not appear to be my cup of tea (sweetened or not), but I'm glad to know about the list.

I have two titles from this list on hold at the public library -
Natchez Burning and Palmetto Moon. I love Charleston and Boykin is a hometown Charlotte author.

There are a lot of familiar titles on that list. George Singleton is always a good bet. Really good short story writer. Flying Shoes was written by one of the owners of Oxford Books. Amy Greene's Long Man was a new one for me--I really liked it. And Jon Sealy's Whiskey Baron is a really good story.

Serena is somewhat older -- I suppose it's on the list because of the movie? But Rash writes beautifully.
