Wishlist notification

Oh, this is great. I still have my account on BM, but I emptied my inventory & wishlist over a year ago.

All is good.

I get an email from BM stating that a book on my wishlist is available.

Not only is it NOT a book from my WL (it is a different edition of a book I had wanted)...

But my wishlist is still EMPTY!!

What is going on?

Are they checking to see if the email address is still active??

I think the founder thought it was such a good idea it would run itself. It really needs more management than it's getting.

Management! I think it might as well be dead for as little attention as it gets these days.

I really do think eBooks are reducing the activity for book swapping sites.

I get a reasonable number of books only because I scan BookMooch several times a day. I can do that because I have medical problems that keep me housebound. I read quite a bit.

I don't really like e-books. I use an iPad most of the time, and my e-books have disappeared into the Aether. Something to do with how iBook is set up. So I will read the occasional classic in the public domain but I won't spend the money on a new e-book. Plus my tablet is now old enough that I need to recharge it a couple of times a day.

I might feel differently if I lived in a very small apartment and didn't have as much storage space. As it is nearly all the furniture is piled up with books. I have only limited success keeping them off the floor.

Oh, IreneF, I believe we all have that problem! Most of my bookcases are double-stacked and I have piles and piles on the floor.

I do love my eBooks, though. I have the Nook app, the Kindle app, and iBooks all on my iPad and I have several thousand books amongst the three! I also use Blio, GoodReads, the Google Play app and Scribd, but not nearly as much as the first three. And I get free and low-cost books from about 8 email services plus Project Gutenberg. I can't read all this stuff in ten lifetimes!

I get notifications now and again for books that are no longer on my wish list because I either mooched them long ago or deleted them after buying a copy. I find this rather annoying, especially because I often have to check if I already have the book I get a notification for.

I barely get any notifications for books on my wishlist (mostly because any copies available are not available to my country). I get the odd not even related "related edition" email, but I can't remember getting one for a book that I have removed from my wishlist. I wonder if the Bookmooch server has cached a older version of everything for some purposes? Seems like a strange use of server space.
