I saw Son House live in Berkeley in the 60's. He seemed really old and frail as he walked out on the stage but, as soon as he started to play it was amazing how strong his voice and guitar were. He was shouting and slamming the guitar like a kid! Lightnin Hopkins was also on that night. What a bill!

Also saw Brownie McGee and Sonny live several times. Last time I saw Brownie was at a free concert in a park in the 90's. Brownie was a great blues guitarist, love that Piedmont style!

Not sure about the "rich and varied" but it's turning out to be a long life, the last ex-hippy!

Unfortunately, I didn't get interested in blues music until the early 90's, long past the heyday of the blues giants, but I did see Junior Wells at the Bull Durham Blues Festival in 1996.
