Anyway, it's not exactly balanced -- 3 Tiptree-related books, 3 Le Guin books, almost half (6 of 13) are criticism-related -- but it was fun and what I had easily at hand. Anyone else feel like taking a stab?
Could you give me a little info about Femspec? I searched on the title here and it looks like you are the only LT member who owns a copy. Unfortunately, there's no catalogue information for the book showing up. Does it have an isbn number? And what's it about? (I'm assuming the title refers to speculative fiction by women, maybe specifically feminist speculative fiction, but is it an anthology of fictional work or a critical study of the genre?) Thanks!
FemSpec is a journal. It publishes criticism and some original SF/poetry/art. It's been published for around 8 or 9 years.
Last I heard, they were having some financial difficulty, so I'm not sure what the status of new issues will be.
More info at femspec.org.
Wow, who knew that bookpiles could fulfill a user guide function, too?!
There is a website with very few biographical details - is Jane Palmer also Dandi Palmer? - but you can read the first few chapters of her novels to get a feel for them - Jane Palmer SF. If you like them you may have a little trouble getting hold of them, they have been oop for years.
Very cool book pile, Ms. avaland! I have most but not all of those. I need to track down those Jane Palmer books. Imagine bluetyson and me wrestling mano a mano for these ;-p
Edited to fix a glaring grammatical error
