Hi all,
Happy 2016! trying to revive this group... Does anyone know about a good book about the history of London that isn't one of Peter Ackroyd's?

I don't know if you're after a general history or a history of a particular period, but you could try Jerry White's books: London In The Nineteenth Century: 'A Human Awful Wonder of God' and London in the Twentieth Century: A City and Its People. I've dipped into these for research and found them interesting. I believe he's also done one on the eighteenth century.
For something slightly different, I think Clive Bloom's Violent London: 2000 Years of Riots, Rebels and Revolts looks fascinating (again, I haven't read cover to cover, just individual chapters).

Liza Picard has volumes on Elizabeth's London, Restoration London, Dr. Johnson's London, and Victorian London; while not precisely a history of London, they have much interesting information.
(And boy, did the touchstones give me weird results on these! All of them returned either Price and Prejudice or The Complete Works of William Shakespeare!)
