i'm reading a book by the name of shiver. its by Maggie Stiefvater and its really good so far. but, there is this part in the beginning of the book that i don't understand:

both of the main characters in the book are in a hospital their names are grace and sam. sam has gotten shot by a hunter, but the bullet only graced his kneck. hes a warewolf. the nurse thinks he tried to kill himself. grace says he didn't but, he has cut marks on his wrist that tell the nurse otherwise. when grace asks sam about the marks he says his mom did one and his father did the other. then he says hes still afraid of bathtubs.

i probably shouldn't have to think so hard but, i'm definitely stuck if you get what happen he please help.

THANKS! :)

Though I like Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle a lot, I couldn't force my way through Shiver. There is one old thread devoted to it here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/90514
but very little commentary on the plot.

If the book interests you enough, I suggest you just keep reading. The author may be planning to explain the reference later in the book.

Werewolf prejudice is endemic in society. Even today, many people would not want their daughter to marry a werewolf. Narrow-minded bigots. Allergies are no excuse.

>4 MrAndrew: Now we'll have to have bathrooms just for werewolves, to protect the innocents from being bitten and turning into the beasts!

I don't get the whole need for separate bathrooms for werewolves, I mean it's not like ANYONE goes into a public restroom to spend a great deal of time in there trying to figure out someone else's genetic makeup. And as far as werewolves biting innocents, what has prevented the werewolves from biting innocents in the bathroom up until now...it's a problem that shouldn't be a problem.

I have some friends that are werewolves.

Just because he has a wide stance, doesn't mean he's a werewolf.

>5 gilroy: Wouldn't that only be a problem during the full moon? (And you shouldn't be mooning anyone in the bathroom anyway!)

>9 Taphophile13: But once they're identified, we can't be sure they aren't going to be shifting when it isn't the full moon. I mean, we must think of the CHILDREN! :)

Yes, we must think of the children. When those little critters turn, they inflict nasty knee bites.

I'm trying to imagine the sign on the bathroom door for active werebeings.
