Hi I just joined your group. I live in Vancouver B.C. I have two cat chldren, Maxi who is 4 years old (just had his birthday) and Misty who is 2 years old.

I rescued Maxi when he was a few weeks old from an outdoor freezer that someone put he and his siblings in when I lived on the prairies and I adopted Misty from an organization here called VOKRA that rescues cats and kittens. She was born in a foster home from a TNR feral cat but I adopted her as soon as she was ready. I love my cats to bits!

I never pass up an opportunity to brag about my cats or show their pictures and I'm sure you don't either lol. Can you post pictures of your cats here for everyone to see? Please tell me something about your cats. Do they let you read or do they lay over your book lol?

Welcome to the cat group, BookAddict!

There is a way to actually have the pictures show up in your post. You need to use img src tags. I will try to find the instructions (I have them saved on one of my cat pictures so I don't forget) :)

Editado: Maio 31, 2016, 1:43 pm

OK, you use the following HTML code
use the left and right carets instead of brackets to post pictures {img src="filename"/}

You get the filename of the picture by right clicking on it and copying its name from "properties"

Let me try:

this is my youngest cat, Apollo, it's taken about a year ago when he was about a year and a half old

Maio 31, 2016, 4:02 pm

If you look at the picture in my profile, that's my Eddie. He's my cuddle buddy. :)

Editado: Jun 1, 2016, 4:29 am

>2 anna_in_pdx: Thank you!

Your baby is really cute! As you can tell I love tuxedos :)

I tried to do what you said about inserting the photo but I don't see properties. I see this.....

I found out how though from davidgn so he sent me here and this worked :)

>4 gilroy: Awww so cute in the bookshelf!

Jun 1, 2016, 5:24 am

I have photos of mine on my gallery here and in other threads in the group. :)

Jun 1, 2016, 1:07 pm

This is Eddie and his siblings when they were very young. :) Of the five you see, we still have the far left (that's Alex), the middle with the orange stripe on her face (that's Blaze), and the far right, being Eddie. :)

Jun 1, 2016, 2:30 pm

My current two are Angus and MacDuff. This is MacDuff, both pictures taken a few years ago. In the first he was still almost a kitten.
And this is Angus, curled up with Hamish. He is harder to get good pictures of, being black.

Here's another vote for tuxedo cats!

This is RaeAnn. Unfortunately we lost her just a few days ago, to liver cancer. But she lived to be 18 years old.

Our first four cats (ever -- I grew up with dogs, and my husband grew up with no pets) were tuxedos. We have only one of those four left, Kira.

Jun 1, 2016, 2:43 pm

Here is the aforementioned Kira:

Jun 1, 2016, 2:45 pm

Agamemnon, who was quite the fierce, feral tomcat when we trapped him -- but a big ol' pussycat by the end!

Jun 1, 2016, 2:46 pm

And finally Casey, our first cat. He lived to age 14.

(I'll stop more, or I could just keep posting all day! More cat pictures in my gallery "junk drawer" if anyone feels like looking:

Jun 2, 2016, 2:13 am

>8 gilroy: They are all so cute :)

Have you seen the Facebook page called For the Love of Black Cats (Black Cat Appreciation Page)? It's all about black cats. It's one of my favorite webpages on Facebook :)

Jun 2, 2016, 2:16 am

>9 NorthernStar: So cute especially huddled up to the Hamish :)

Black cats are harder to photograph but you can still get good shots of them in the right light. :)

Great close up pic of the grey one. I love his eyes :)

Jun 2, 2016, 2:19 am

>10 amysisson: Oh my, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know losing one of my cat children would kill me. Thank you for sharing a photo of RaeAnn, your beautiful baby who is now over the rainbow bridge.

Jun 2, 2016, 2:20 am

>11 amysisson: So pretty. I'm glad you still have Kira to comfort you :) It must be hard on her losing her sister too.

Jun 2, 2016, 2:24 am

>12 amysisson:

I think it's especially special when you gain the trust of a feral. Good job mom :) Have you ever tried taking him out on a harness? I take my Maxi out that way quite a lot so he still gets to go outside, but safely.

Now that I think about it, a feral probably would fight pretty hard over that harness so that's probably a bad idea lol

Jun 2, 2016, 2:25 am

>14 BookAddict: my condolences on losing your beautiful Casey :(

Jun 2, 2016, 11:41 am

>18 BookAddict:

We don't have the feral anymore -- he died a year ago. What's funny is that even though it was difficult to win him over, he never once actually tried to escape our house. We trapped him in February in upstate New York, during a winter in which we already had 100 inches of snow! So even though he didn't like us humans for a while, he knew the upside of warmth + regular food! It took him 3 months to stop hissing every time we entered a room he was in, a year and a half to purr for the first time. But the last several years he would great us at the door when we came home, and come to us for petting and attention. Boy, I loved that cat!

Jun 3, 2016, 3:25 pm

I love all your photos and thought I'd share a cute one I took earlier this year.

For Christmas I experimented and bought my cats a heated pet bed. They never used other pet beds I bought in the past but I decided to try again anyway. It was a hit.

Those are my girls trying to share. The bed only fits one comfortably lol The one on the left is Cameo. She's my old lady and turns 17 in three months. The one on the right is Suda, who turns 6 next month. I also have two boys and some of their baby photos are in my profile (4 cats total). I have since bought a second bed and they are still used daily. Occasionally the girls still try to share so 3 of them can be using the beds at once! Has to be some of the best money I've spent :)

Jun 3, 2016, 4:10 pm

>21 Narilka:

Adorable photo! Off to look at your profile to see the other pics.

Heated beds are terrific for older cats, esp. those who tend to have arthritis.

Jun 3, 2016, 4:11 pm

>21 Narilka:

OMG, adorable profile pics -- esp. Loki & Logan!

Jun 3, 2016, 4:31 pm

I'm loving all the cat pictures!

Jun 3, 2016, 4:32 pm

You guys yesterday Apollo (the one in #3 above) turned off my internet at home by sitting on the power strip's on/off switch.

I wonder if he did it on purpose!

Jun 4, 2016, 7:41 pm

>23 amysisson: Thanks! They are almost 3 now. I really need to upload some more recent photos of them.

>25 anna_in_pdx: Yeah probably lol

Jun 6, 2016, 8:35 am

>20 amysisson:

Aww that is so sweet.

I'm sorry you lost your feral boy :(

He sounds terriffic :)

Jun 6, 2016, 8:37 am

>21 Narilka: Wow what a nice idea, heated beds. Didn't even know they had such a thing :)

I'm sure they do love that.

They are pretty kitties :)

Editado: Jun 6, 2016, 8:39 am

>25 anna_in_pdx: lol They are definately smarter than we think they are! haha

Jun 6, 2016, 8:46 am

I took my cat Max out for a walk last night on the leash. He didn't want to go back in at all! I had to carry him to the door lol and then he started screaming and fighting with me to stay out lol. I just said no and took him in. He was so mad that he hissed at his sister (He's never done that before!) and when I instructed him that he wasn't being nice he looked mad and begrudgingly went into the bathroom by himself. I went in there later and found him in the sink where it's cool lol. About an hour later his temper was gone and he wanted petties so he came all purrrry at me and I petted him and our fight was over lol

Oh the life of a cat lady! lol

Jun 23, 2016, 3:44 pm

>30 BookAddict: uh oh- you've opened the can of worms now! He's going to want to go out every time you go near the door :)

Editado: Jun 26, 2016, 12:42 pm
My cat
He is a rescue cat so it does not matter what he's called

Jun 26, 2016, 12:32 pm

How do I post my cat on here?
Have image on photobucket
Do I have to be a member?

So adorable!!

Jul 13, 2016, 10:38 pm

There's a whole thread with pics of my Taji & Tilly cats from when they were first born, if anyone wants to look it's here: :)

But here are my 2 fave pics, this one from 2011:

& this one from 2013:

Gorgeous photos!

Editado: Jul 14, 2016, 11:06 am

I remember those photos, I totally love your cats! How are they doing these days?

Jul 14, 2016, 4:41 pm

Here's my girl sitting on me today! Illyria.

Jul 14, 2016, 7:59 pm

>39 Darth-Heather: - With Tilly doing her big eyed stare in the first pic I can see why you might have thought Singa, but no, they are Australian Mists :)

They are doing well these days, hard to believe they turned 7 a few weeks ago! We have had a few health issues, but thankfully nothing super serious :)

>41 al.vick: - Pretty lady! & pretty name too :)

Love the pics; why did it take me so long to find this group?

Mango (the calico) and Kiwi, both rescues, both about two years old.

Jul 20, 2018, 10:52 am

Oh look how beautiful they are! Welcome to this group.

Jul 20, 2018, 11:06 am

Gosh I missed this thread when it was originally started but I'm so pleased to finally see so many beautiful cats.

Editado: Jul 20, 2018, 11:16 am

I haven't taken many pictures recently, and haven't got around to transferring any off my phone yet, but here is one of Xander shortly after he came to live with me

Lexa is a lot trickier to catch on camera - she tends to move or look away but here is one of her taken a little bit later

Jul 20, 2018, 3:24 pm

Someone told me earlier this week that there is a grumpy old man in Saskatchewan who actually thinks there are enough pictures of cats on the Internet without people adding more. I find it hard to believe that rumour but I thought I'd report it here to let you know.

Editado: Jul 20, 2018, 8:42 pm

OMG I can't believe I never added a pic of my Lexi here! (Probably because I always have to research how to add a picture!) Here she is:

I adopted her from ASPCA in 2010; she was a young adult cat. History unknown; she has a tipped ear so may be semi-feral. (She sure acts feral at times!)

Jul 20, 2018, 8:43 pm

>49 calm: Your Xander and Lexa are too cute! Please add more pics, esp of Xander as he feels better and recuperates if you have time.

Editado: Jul 20, 2018, 8:59 pm

Left to right: Sherlock, Mr. B, Barney

Jul 20, 2018, 10:10 pm

Awww these are such lovely kitties! Sherlock and Mr B look very similar. Are they littermates?

We have a Lexi and a Lexa! Calm, we need some grown up pix.

Willow in repose. Our only boy cat.

Puss testing out the suitcase. She doesn't fit.

Jul 21, 2018, 12:17 pm

Oh, how we love our cats! To save faffing around with source code you can see my current and late feline incumbents on my profile page.

BTW it's so nice to see this group revive - it was pretty dead for a bit. Books and cats - they just go together, don't they?

Jul 21, 2018, 1:26 pm

>50 anglemark: Nonsense you can never have too many cat photos

>51 framboise: Aw so cute - I like tabbies

>52 framboise: Xander was such a ball of fluff when I first met him and so loving, I was looking for a female cat at the time but ended up taking the two of them. I just couldn't resist him :)

and >54 anna_in_pdx: I have got some on my phone, including ones taken recently. I just need to find the software and cable to upload them to the net.

>53 thornton37814: All adorable.

>55 krazy4katz: They are definite characters - great pictures

>56 Zambaco: Lovely - Siamese look so regal.

I agree it is a shame how quiet the group was. We all obviously love the cats in our lives and their have been some really great threads in the past. My two agree about the cats and books thing. I have two low three shelf bookcases and each of them chose a different one as a favourite resting place :)

The most recent photo of Lexa and Xander together

Before the accident they liked being up high

and Lexa still does

Xander in the cat carrier after the amputation

Jul 27, 2018, 12:28 pm

How lovely and fluffy Xander is! I hope he will soon be able to jump up on things again though I guess his days of getting up to ceiling height are maybe over.

Jul 27, 2018, 12:32 pm

>59 anna_in_pdx: He sure is fluffy :) I will be happy if he starts getting above floor level again. I sat and put him on my lap for a cuddle earlier and as soon as I let go he went back under the bed.

Jul 27, 2018, 12:39 pm

>50 anglemark: lol I somehow missed this! I know a grumpy (actually it’s an endearing kind of grumpiness) guy who lives near Saskatoon, he is a member of the Literary Snobs list named Cliff, and it sounds like something he’d say! 😸

Ago 5, 2018, 1:34 pm

I love all the pictures, and I'm shocked that I never posted pics of my cats in this thread before. So here, for your admiration, are Rory and Amy, in a rare moment of togetherness.

This is Samantha. I had to say goodbye to her today. She was with me from 2007 until today and will be very much missed. 😿

Ago 11, 2018, 8:11 pm

She is beautiful. I am so sorry you are now without her.

Ago 11, 2018, 8:12 pm

>65 anna_in_pdx: Saying goodbye is never easy. Black cats are striking and Samantha was certainly beautiful. Hugs.
