Is the picture so necessary to the functioning of this wonderful Group? I find it disturbing

I don't know about others who visit this Group but I find being forced to view the pictures of Charles II execution a difficult experience. As a result of repeated visits to Group I am being made to view it several times a day.
I understand executions-beheadings were not exactly traumatic affairs, people must have suffered PSTD etc as a result. Is it ok to suggest another picture is put up that sums up the zeitgeist of the group?

If you use Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser (and everyone should), you can get an extension called Adblock Plus that, in addition to doing what it says, will allow you to block individual images. You don't even get a place-holder for it.

Hopefully I have done it, I installed it as suggested. So hopefully I don't see it.

1have done it but I can only block image manually at every time I come onto site.

Open the Adblock Plus preferences window. Highlight the URL for the picture. The URL probably ends in a question mark followed by four numbers, like ...jpg?1234 . So, anyway, highlight the URL, right-click, and select Edit Filter. Delete the question mark and the numbers, so that it ends with ...jpg , and hit OK. You should then see, in your filter list, the URL without the numbers. And that should keep it from showing up each time you revisit the page.

If I may inject a note of reality, there is no compulsion and little reason for anyone to make several visits a day to the group page of a group that until this thread had had no posts in more than 6 months. :-)

Well, if you think that the problem is a real one, and that someone is somehow being "forced to view" the picture several times a day.... I thought it was a put-on.

It's not intended and I wouldn't wish to lose any political message/lesson therein. Like the French Revolution ditto. Maybe Plato having disabled to die on Hills should be plastered up on an erudite and scholarly group and the presusppositons of inadequecy be questioned, maybe in lieu of Welfare to Work agenda in UK. Maybe Politics entails difficult images. Maybe one could have a Slideshow of disturbing political images or horrific political expressions but with the option of being able to turn them off or limit them for the more sensitive amongst us. I would NOT for a second wish to deny myself any reasonable discussion based on the full on horrific exposure to the FACTS/history etc.

Regicide is another important topic. I wish I was as well read as the people here. This group is inspiring the political philosopher in me and its central importance to understanding Societies. I live on Benefits so I have a lot to work out participation wise but my Academic Library is 112 strong approx and I devour Google Scholar, Public Lectures, Conferences (!!!) and Podcast Course Material. I have also been asked to respond to a Research Proposal Draft Bid from an R&D Manager in the NE England. Academic Sorrows kick in.....
