Long story short, I had several boxes of books, they got wet, and some of them started to get moldy. Following some online suggestions, I put them in a dedicated freezer, and there they have stayed for a year and a half. I expect that when I open the freezer, the books will be dry, but will still have some inactive mold on them. Is this a safe assumption? I would like to use the freezer for food again, but don't have time to clean the mold off of several dozen books all at once.
My question is this: Assuming the books are all dried, can I take them out of the freezer without first cleaning them, or will the mold flare up again? (Again, I am assuming there is mold physically on the books, but it is mold that has been frozen for 18 months.)
As a side note, I live in a cold, dry environment. The books are mostly hard- and soft-cover textbooks. They are all fairly new.
