by Janisse Ray. I've just purchased this today and am very intrigued. Has anyone read it and what did you think?

Yeah, it was April's book and I really couldn't get into it, so just returned it to the library.

Oh, and I see that you're from Florida, too, and you still couldn't get into it. Oh well, I got it for almost nothing. That is disappointing, though.

I read it too for the April reading. I thought it was ok. I will say I'm glad I read it, though I haven't recommended it to anyone. Her descriptions of dirt roads, backwoods and small poor Southern families are spot on!

If you like that, then you must look into this band called the Drive By Truckers. I know the name sounds like they should be opening for Toby Keith, but they're really quite wonderful. Very southern, very socially aware, extremely abrasive...but in a good way.
