Plant

A random plant appeared in my garden, it is covered in ants and is by my birdbath. It is almost as tall as the birdbath! It also has what looks like flowers sprouting. I hope this is enough to go off of!

Thanks!
Hannah

Not really - how about posting a picture?

And letting us know a location, at least approximately.

I suppose it has green leaves does it?

>3 NorthernStar: She already said it was by her birdbath, what more do you need?

What height? Birdbaths can be all sorts of heights. What shape leaves?

Mmmm, I know. My past profession was horticulturalist, that's why I'm chuckling to myself. :) My favourite response when someone used to come in the nursery inquiring about a plant id and you ask them to describe it was, "It has green leaves,...."

>7 bernsad: ah, the equivalent of asking a librarian for a book with a red cover.

Would be helpful to know bud shape, too.

My first thought at mention of ants is peonies, but there's far to little info in the original post.

>8 tardis: Flower petal number, leaf position alternate or opposite? Leaves with smooth edge, serrated, wavy, deeply divided? Are there seed pods, berries or fruiting bodies? Ants can sometimes just indicate that there are aphids presently being milked by certain ants. Is the stem ribbed, round, hollow in cross section? Computer algorithms now bypass all this. You can compare a digital picture to other web pictures in less time than it took me to type this.

>10 smirks4u: Don't @ me :) - I completely agree with you, but I'm not the original poster, who seems never to have come back, given that her question was nearly 4 years ago and she never answered any of our many questions :)

>11 tardis: My bad. Have a great day.
