Just brought home Atwood's The Testaments. I have been waiting for it to come out in paperback as I don't like hardbacks and they're cheaper. Although granted I bought the book here in Japan where I live and foreign books are superbly expensive but oh well.

For the first time since February I went to an actual bookstore yesterday as a reward for being good at the doctor's office.

I went in with a short list of upcoming books I plan to read. They didn't have them but I still came away with 2 from my wishlist:

A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin
The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays by Albert Camus

>4 lilisin: I got The Testaments this week as well, and I waited for the same reason - hardbacks are expensive and impossible to read in bed. I will need to re-read The Handmaid's Tale before diving into the new book, but that is no hardship. I loved the book, and I still consider the last sentence of it the best closing line I've ever read. Margaret Atwood knows how to finish a story masterfully.

Also new this week: Jane Austen's England: Daily Life in the Georgian and Regency Periods by Roy and Lesley Adkins, who are British archeologists and historians.

Set 28, 2020, 9:53pm

I just got The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes to read with my sister next month, and A Burning by Megha Majumdar
to read with my book club next month.

I forgot to share that I was gifted some books on Halloween:
Strange Tombs by Syd Moore
A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab
Gems & Crystals for Beginners by Kristyna Arcarti

And I also ordered Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman after my local independent bookstore hosted a virtual author event.
