Mapp and Lucia deserve a hand out of the archive. They did turn up in a P G Wodehouse group recently but they don’t really belong there.

>1 abbottthomas: I was partly responsible for that — but I’m not sure if I agree with you about them “not really belonging there”. There aren’t likely to be any members of this group who are unaware of the Mapp and Lucia stories, so it would be coals to Newcastle posting about them here, but there might well be a few people in the PGW group who don’t know about them.

>2 thorold: No criticism of your entirely relevant post In The Drones Club. I was thinking about how the ladies might feel. I’m sure that Mapp would have disapproved of Bertie and, although she would have welcomed an invitation to Blandings, she would never have supported Clarence in a domestic argument. Lucia would have made whatever use she could of both of them.

I guess they would both think they deserved their own group ;-)

Foljambe would never have put up with someone like Jeeves!

>4 thorold: That’s a lovely thought. Although there are few, if any, details, Jeeves did have “understandings” with a few women along the way. Might he not have employed his persuasive talents?

Hmm. He’d have had to cut-out Lucia’s chofer, but I’m sure that would have been within his abilities.

>1 abbottthomas: Agreed! Keep E.F. Benson and Mapp & Lucia titles out of the archives!

>3 abbottthomas: Thanks for the with bringing Mapp & Lucia into the conversation. Love it!

>4 thorold: Agree! She would think Jeeves gives his charge too much freedom. As I sit here smiling...
