The book I'm looking for was probably published at the beginning of the 1990s. The main character is called Elaine, or something like that. She is an illustrator of childrens book. She lives alone, with no children. Suddenly at male doctor shows up at her door with a baby/tiny toddler, and moves the baby in to her house. It turns out the baby's mom is a fan of Elaine's illustrations, and she needs someone to care for her daughter while the mom is hospitalized. But Elaine doesn't know the first thing about caring for a baby. Elaine is tall, around 6 feet, the doctor calls her Lainie.
