I got Hidden Valley Road: Life Inside the Mind of an American Family by Robert Kolker, Good Economics for Hard Times by Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, and Balancing Bountiful: What I Learned about Feminist from my Polygamous Grandmothers by Mary Jayne Blackmore.

I'm waiting to see what shows up from my SantaThing but nothing under the tree. Not that I mind though. I got some sit down time to read more of my current book, Kafka on the Shore. I've heard a lot about the perspective and language that I can't help but wonder what might be missing since I'm reading it in translation and Japanese doesn't really sync well with English, I understand.

I got a $100 gift card for books. Also I have a huge tbr pile and 3 borrowed from the library on my iPad. I am good for the lockdown.

I am pretty sure there are books under the tree at my parents' place, but I won't be able to get them for a while yet, thanks to lockdown and general high case numbers that will continue to make travel unsafe for a while :(

In the meantime, I am certainly not short of books from previous Christmases to read!

My family rarely buy books for me (I've already got it or read it) so I was delighted to find A Promised Land by Barack Obama with my name on it. I've always admired him and know little about US politics and government.
