BookDoc16: Digging Deeper in 2021

Jan 2, 2021, 4:02 pm

I'm going to start the year reading my "thicker" volumes that I haven't tackled before (mainly classics). If I'm brave enough, I might even try Joyce's Ulysses! I'll intersperse them with lighter (meaning, "quicker") reading. Wish me luck!

Jan 2, 2021, 4:03 pm

The Mysterious Island - Jules Verne
Paw and Order - Spencer Quinn

Jan 2, 2021, 4:04 pm

Best of luck with tackling those thicker volumes, and especially if you try Ulysses!

Jan 2, 2021, 4:04 pm

Tomes can be tough, good luck!

Jan 2, 2021, 4:10 pm

Happy new year of reading and ROOTing and good luck with your goals. I’ve got Ulysses on my TBR pile too but not sure if 2021 will be the year for it :)

Hi BookDoc. Good to see you back again. Happy ROOTing.

Jan 3, 2021, 11:17 am

Welcome back, and good luck with those chunksters! (you're braver than me!)

Jan 4, 2021, 11:46 am

Do you have a specific goal?

Jan 5, 2021, 9:10 am

Happy ROOTing!

>8 cyderry: cyderry: Most years I shoot for 50 or 60 books; with the sizable volumes I'm tackling this year, probably a shorter count!

Jan 14, 2021, 9:42 pm

CHANGE OF PLAN: I'm starting differently than planned. Seems I've joined a pair of new, themed reading groups my wife recommended. The January theme for one (monthly by the book's title) is the word "dream"; for the other (an around-the-world-themed book list) is "the Arctic/Antarctic." So I'm hitting two birds w/ one stone by reading my old copy of Barry Lopez's 1985 book "Arctic Dreams." It's 400+ pages, so I guess it still fits my original goal... Onward!

Jan 15, 2021, 4:15 am

Good change, BookDoc.
