I did a search and couldn't find a dedicated thread for this book, so here we go!
Chapter 1
I love the little twist at the end of chapter 1 where we learn it was Archie that recommended the orchid growers trick to get Wolfe involved. That is so Archie.

Two words I had to look up:
Apodictical: clearly established or beyond dispute
yclept: I thought this was a typo! It means "by the name of"

Ch. 8
It was pretty obvious to me that Wolfe shouldn't have been letting the man pop aspirins like candy. Even from the first meeting when he reached in the desk drawer to grab a bottle of aspirin. I have read this book at least twice before, so I'm not sure whether that is me being clever, or me just having a latent memory of the story. :)

After about 38 years of reading murder mysteries, there aren't many that surprise me much. It still happens though.

The male members of the Fox family exemplify all the most annoying traits in (some) men towards women. Makes me ill to read them pontificating, overbearing, postulating, mansplaining. Gah! I have to say, those men would be pretty annoying whether you were a man or a woman on the receiving end. Archie and Wolfe were certainly put out.

This being written in the 1930s, I suppose that the women didn't react much to them, is how it was; I would have left the room, if not worse.
