Export Your Books as Excel isn't working

I've been trying since last night to export my books as Excel on that page and it keeps stalling out at 1600 or 1900 books.

Thanks for the report. Worked on my (much) smaller export (466 records). Testing further and will alert the developers. We'll post here with any updates!

I've seen this issue in the past, and if you can workaround with .tsv export in the meantime, that may work well.

Hi there, I am having the same problem. I cant export as Excel, and the .tsv file seems to work, but when I open it, there is no content!

I have 2775 records.

Still can't export to excel, and when I try tsv it creates a .tsv.part file, which I've never seen before.

Same problem.

"Export as Tab-delimited text" just keeps spinning the wheel at 6.000 books (and I have 8154). Could you give it a push or something :-)

We won't be able to fix this until Monday, but we'll get to it. The new search system rests on new servers, and the new servers must be producing time-outs on long-running processes.

Just FYI I still can't export my catalogue. "There was an error retrieving the export file." I'll just hope for it to be fixed today or tomorrow.

Right. "Export books" is not working.

"Expelling members from Groups"? That "feature" works.

I, too, want to export my catalog to file and save it. This place is no longer safe or reliable.

Sorry folks, we're still working on it and hope to have it fixed soon. The issue is—as most of you already know—with larger libraries and timeouts to the exporting process.

Meanwhile I've tried exporting as tsv books entered since 2021-01-01 and that also seems to take ages. I wonder if it tries to create the whole export file first and then filters on date? If so, I have a suggestion :-)

Another option is to Search

If I search for:
113929077 OR 113929093

it responds quite quickly:

Processing done (2 records). Click to download.

but the tsv file is empty.

So far I haven't found anything that works even for a couple of books.

Searching for the tag Fiction finds 4719 books but returns an error "There was an error retrieving the export file." rather than an export file.
I was expecting the proces to display " 1 book processed, 100 books processed, 200 ... " which it does, but in between other numbers occur,
i.e. 3300 books processed, 3400 books processed, 1800 books processed, 3500 ... 3600 ... 3700 .. 3800 ... 2000 ... 4000 ... 4100 ... 4200 ... 4300 ... 4400 ... 2300 ... 4500 ... 4600 ... 2400 ...

It looks as if two processes are reporting at the same time?

Searching for the tag Cardby finds 26 books that can actually be downloaded as tsv. (At least once. Subsequent tries give an empty file.)

Searching for the tag Crime finds 1020 books but the tsv file is emply.

Summa summarum:
I think something is gone wrong with the timing of the whole export process. It seems like two processes are fighting each other wtiting to the export file?

Okay, we believe we have this fixed, but we won't be entirely surprised if folks are still seeing some weirdness.

I tested a number of members in this thread and got successful exports. Can folks verify and let me know if you're still seeing any issues, and please give specifics if so? Thanks!

Worked for me. I only exported in tsv format. I'm a happy camper!

Full catalog, tag export, and date export all worked fine to Excel.
