Introductions

This group will do a reading of the 1619 Project book when it comes out this fall. Please feel free to join and introduce yourself. The goal is to have a cross-section of perspectives from across the political or historical spectrum. Please, be civil to all.

As far as introductions, I'm a Boston lawyer (my actual name is Sam Mawn-Mahlau, but I have posted here for years under "A_musing"). I majored in history, with a focus on the Middle East, at Amherst College wayyy back in the 80s. If asked to identify a truly extraordinary book I read about American history and would recommend to others it would be Robert Alter's Pen of Iron: American Prose and the King James Bible.
