History--definition

I guess our choices of "history" books depends upon what each person defines as history. Merriam-Webster defines it as : the study of past events, especially in human affairs.

I can live with that definition! Therefore, I am concluding (without much thought) that there are some memoirs and biographies that can be included in the history category. I would include those books that also exhibit social history or political history alongside the memoir/biography. For example, the story of Harriet Tubman would count as a history book because her story would be one of the underground railroad. Wherein the many loves of Casanova would not because he only describes his conquests and nothing about the period of the time.
