Is it possible to add a collection inside another one? For example:
Math -> Algebra
and then also have
Math -> Analysis -> Complex Analysis
And have all of them be collections

No - no nested collections. But books can be in more than one collection so you can add a book both in Math and in Algebra and another in Math and Analysis for example. That way you have the separate subtopics but also the main one.
Or you can use tags for some of your organization (no nesting there either).

Since collections can overlap, you can nest the contents of one collection inside another. But LT won't enforce that for you by creating a logical relationship between the collections. You can use the Collections Overlap data at https://www.librarything.com/stats/progrima/collections to do review and cleanup, if that's what you're after.

Also be aware that the Collections GUI becomes unwieldy for more than a couple dozen Collections; if you plan on doing a deep hierarchy, tags may be better-suited.

>4 lorax: Is it possible to assign multiple tags to a single book and then search for books that have a group of tags?

Yes, a single book can have as many tags as you like.
Searching for an intersection of tags is called a "tagmash" and can be done.

progrima (#5):
It is possible to set as many tags as you want on a single book - feel free to see my catalog. You can also search within your catalog for any combination of tags.
paradoxosalpha (#6):
A tagmash isn't quite the same thing. It's a search for books anywhere on LT that have been tagged with both tags in question.
So if I search *my catalog* for, say, books tagged "unread" and "anthology" then I will find all the books I personally have used both tags on. If I do the same tagmash, I will find all the books anywhere on LT that anyone has used both tags on - even if nobody has actually used both tags on the same book!

Thanks for the replies, I managed to figure out how to put multiple tags, turns out I had to use the comma. That took too much time haha.
>7 lorax: How do I go about searching for a combination of tags? I tried being a smartass by altering the URL, so if I was looking for the math tag for example:
https://www.librarything.com/catalog/progrima&tag=math
And then I wanted to look for the Analysis tag on top of math tag, I figured this might work:
https://www.librarything.com/catalog/progrima&tag=math&tag=Analysis
haha but it did not, instead it just showed me Analysis tagged books, regardless of math tag.
