2023

It’s great to be living, breathing, and reading in 2023! Last year was a banner reading year for me: 254 books, evenly distributed among unabridged audio, e-books, and print. Using LT’s 5-star rating scale, almost 3/4 of my books read were 3s, with only one book rated 1 star and one rated 5 stars. In 2023 I’ll try to shrink the 3-star bucket a bit.

It has occurred to me, as my world reopens bit by bit after the pandemic, that I gravitated to series novels during the years of social isolation. I couldn’t be with the friends and family I usually saw, so a partial substitute was the folks I got to know in those novels about faraway places and times. Perhaps many of us have friends like that in Three Pines, Absaroka County, Whitstable, Botswana, Scotland, Scandinavia, and places beyond. I’ll still be checking on them as those treasured series continue.
